Performed collaborative research in the study of metastatic process of human brain tumors transplanted into animal hosts. Developed new in-vitro metastatic model, simulating neural environment, for same area analysis with light, scanning and transmission electron microscopy (EM). Responsibilities included: Evaluation of implanted tumors using histological and EM techniques, elemental analysis of tumor marker, antigen localization with antibody complex, corrdination of surgical and research activities, training of neurosurgical residents in research techniques and supervision of EM and tissue culture technicians supporting collaborative efforts.
June 1988 - April 1989:
Part-time Patent Searcher for Technical Patent Institute on a sub-contractual basis. Trained by former Examiner and registered Patent Attorney in all phases of patentability, infringement and validity searching. Technical concentration in Biotechnical/Biomedical and Electron Microscopy related fields of endeavor.
September 1997 - June 1988:
Laboratory Scientist III, University of Maryland School of Medicine/Department of Ophthalmology. Evaluation of various retinopathies using transmission immunoelectronmicroscopy (TEM). Responsibilities included: performing thick and ultramicrotomy using conventional and modified techniques; labeling sections using antibody/colloidal gold; evaluation of sections for cellular abnormalities; photography, development and printing of micrographs; and maintenance/minor repairing of TEM and related equipment.

A consultation with a PTO examiner in the relevant art is made as necessary, and the art is searched through relevant US classes with the USPTO examiner assisted search tool [EAST]. Search results are reported with a search summary, field of search, list of databases utilized and 8 to 10 references

Is a broad range of classes and subclasses are searched to provide an overview of patented technology similar in the approach contemplated by the client. This offer-underutilized approach combines some of the benefits of a novelty search with alternatives utilized by the industries competitors. The number of references reported is 20-25 unless an expanded overview is requested, and the time range is confined to a 10-20 years to reflect the stare-of-the-art.

Is similar to a state-of-the-art but without date range restrictions.
